Project Description

This month, Milwaukee Magazine featured an article with an in-depth look into Milwaukee’s 53206 zip code.

COA opened the Goldin Center in the 53206 zip code ten years ago to offer after-school and summer opportunities for youth in one of Milwaukee’s most distressed neighborhoods. Since then, COA has opened a pediatric and family clinic in partnership with Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and a Family Resource Center at the Goldin Center.

This spring/summer, COA is building a new early childhood education center on site and Milwaukee County Parks is building a brand new Moody Park adjacent to the Goldin Center. Both of these new additions to the neighborhood will provide much needed opportunities and resources for residents, including a safe and welcoming community greenspace and high-quality early education in a neighborhood with no nationally accredited centers.

Four-Star Organization

For nine consecutive years, COA has received a four-star rating from Charity Navigator, a national evaluator of nonprofit organizations. Only one percent of the nation's charities have received the highest four-star rating for twelve consecutive years.
