One of our key goals here at COA is to give parents the tools to be their children’s first and most important teachers. Each year COA recognizes two outstanding local couples for their role as superb parents and their dedicated service to the Milwaukee community. We are thrilled to honor Rhonda & Gregory Oberland and Shannon & Jon Greenberg as COA’s 2018 Parents of the Year! The Oberlands and Greenbergs are wonderful examples of how great parents play a huge role in shaping a better future for their children, the community, and the City of Milwaukee.

Please join us at COA’s 36th Annual Parents of the Year Luncheon on Wednesday, August 15th at the Italian Community Center (631 E Chicago St) from 11:30am-1:30pm for a fun-filled celebration that includes a gourmet lunch and special addresses from the honorees and their children.

Meet Rhonda and Gregory Oberland:

Rhonda and Gregory Oberland are philanthropic leaders with years of service to the Milwaukee community. Gregory Oberland is the President of Northwestern Mutual, a financial services company headquartered here in Milwaukee. Mr. Oberland serves on the Board of Directors for the United Way of Greater Milwaukee & Waukesha County as its Secretary and also serves as President-Elect of Milwaukee Repertory Theater’s Board of Trustees. He has previously served as President of the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation Board and on the board of the American Red Cross of Wisconsin, on which he is an Emeritus Trustee. Rhonda has been an active community and school volunteer for over 30 years. They are proud parents of four adult children: Andrew, Eric, Jared and Elyse. They are also proud grandparents of four, with a fifth on the way!

Meet Shannon and Jon Greenberg:

Jon Greenberg is President of the Milwaukee Admirals ice hockey team. The Greenberg’s connection to COA runs deep; Ms. Greenberg worked at COA from 1992-2000 and the couple met through a COA event. Mr. Greenberg later popped the question at COA’s 90th anniversary event! They are proud parents to a 15-year-old daughter named Caroline.
